Description
Incredible black and white 10" x 8" Arista Records promotional photograph of the Grateful Dead, signed in blue felt tip marker by all six members of the band’s 1979 lineup: Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Bill Kreutzmann, Mickey Hart, and Brent Mydland. In very good to fine condition, with some expected natural aging and wear from handling. Accompanied by full Letters of Authenticity from both James Spence Authentication (JSA) and music autograph expert Roger Epperson/REAL Authentication. This striking image was captured in April 1979 by noted rock photographer Herb Greene in San Francisco, and was used to introduce Brent Mydland as the band’s new keyboardist. His addition marked the return of the Dead to a six-man lineup and helped usher in one of their most commercially successful eras. Vintage signed group photos of the Dead featuring Mydland—who passed away tragically in 1990—are exceedingly scarce. This example is outstanding, picturing the group at the outset of a major chapter in their history and signed by all six members—a supreme rarity.
